Project Details

This was a CD cover design for the Christian hip-hop ministry called The Yuinon. Everything was created from scratch. I used PhotoShop to cut the young girl out, which was originally on a wood floor.

I created a checkered background, and using the perspective transform tool in PS, I was able to make it look like she was on a chess board. The chess pieces, and all the other elements were scanned in, gray-scaled and positioned to look like they surrounded her.

I specifically like what I did to the money. Originally the money was scanned in flat, but after adding a few filters, it looks like the money had been handled with folds and all. Photoshop works magic if you know what you’re doing.

I think it came out pretty well. I often look at this design and see areas where it can be improved, but that’s just how it is with designers.
